Just received this toy and built it. Takes only about 20 minutes to put together and it's a great center piece for all your bionicle diaramas! Rotor Stands tall (in the 8-10" region). His Spinning blades are the same sword-like pieces found on other sets (like the Cendox cycle's front axle, or Tuma's main sword). The blades hinge a bit so you can postion them right over his head or tilt them back (about 45 deg).
Great kit pieces for free building, though the hunter orange might be tough to blend with other sets. The orange is a BRIGHT "orange", not a dark, moldy orange "orange" as the box implies. Still a great color scheme for the character.
Other great pieces are found all over this character. His right arm "gun" is re-used as a jetpack for Bulk (Silver HF character) in the Bulk vs Vapor set. Speaking of Vapor... Vapor and Rotor have the same mask. Vapor's is a darkish blue, Rotor = Cabela's orange.
All in all the poseability of the figure is a little limited (my reason for the 4 star durability). The weight of the torso/rotor blades is kind of awkward so you have to spend some time playing with the angles to get him to free stand on your table. Much easier if you can lean him and exaggerate his legs in a lunge or squat (my opinion only). The arms are single jointed at the shoulder (like the rest of the villains) with one more fully rotational joint at the weapon/arm connection.
Rotor's legs are of the "boss like" build with pistons and extra armor covering his skeleton and has double ball joints on his legs (edited this comment).
Durability -1 explained:
His leg build is a little tighter than Von Nebula's in that the extra hinge-like extention on his hip isn't as flexible. The piece used has little range of motion, so you'll have to tweak em a bit to make sure you don't break anything.
Don't get me wrong! There is still plenty of play and moving of the parts to make this a fun toy. I personally wanted this set for it's parts, but I'm gonna leave it assembled for a while. REALLY like it.
As I've seen complained about Vapor, the mask has no hole for the eyes. It's just a solid hunk, but I can overlook that.
I'm really glad I got this set when I did. I'd recommend it as a "must have" and if you are going to throw down $20 on a single set this is a great one to go with. Von Nebula is equally fun and ominous, so it's a coin flip.
*Or just get both like I did. 8D*
