(More customer reviews)This is the second Vintage Minifigure Collection that I have bought. The first was Collection #3, and I was completely satisfied with it, both with the minifigs given and quality of the materials. It may also be important to note that I had bought Collection #3 at an official Lego Store (Chicago), so I saw firsthand that the quality of the parts was better-than-adequate.
The Vintage Minifigure Collection #4, however, was a letdown. The minifig choice is great, not unlike in #3, but the quality of the plastic is very low. I bought this collection online (through Shop at Home), so I could not view the contents beforehand. Had I seen the contents of the package before purchasing, I would NOT have bought it.
All of the minifigures suffer from low quality manufacturing. As said in another review, the plastic of worst quality was the color red. Each red piece is very translucent when shone under a light, whereas a normal piece should show almost no light.
Blue and green are of better quality, but feel soft and brittle, and show too much light. There are noticeable tint changes between the blue parts. Black also feels like cheap plastic, but does not allow any light through. Yellow, the hands and heads, appear to be of normal quality.
In the credit of the torsos, the printing of the patterns is top-notch, better and clearer than when they were originally released. It is sad that such perfect prints are wasted on cheap-looking plastic.
In short, refrain from buying this set unless you can check the quality of the parts for yourself. A direct light isn't even required to notice if there are changes in the plastic quality.
