(More customer reviews)I bought this game for my 6 year old, and was very sorry I spent sooo much money on it! When I buy an electronic version of an established game or toy, I expect it to do some of the work for me. Is that asking too much? But in Star Wars Battleship, the two players have to punch buttons to enter each ship on their side. It takes a looonnnngggg time to set up the game before you can every play. Even in the "Classic" game mode. Then, you just spend your whole time entering coordinates. It takes much longer than the old basic Battleship to play. The only thing that is fun about this version is the voices and the hits that
you make.
My son could do this game after some coaching on how to enter coordinates, but the players still have to keep track of their hits and misses with little red and white pegs. The game does none of the work and tedious stuff for you! The only electronic part of the game are the voices and sound effects. I suppose you could play this game a lot faster by just not turning it on and playing it like the classic board game.
If you are a die-hard Star Wars fan, you will buy this game no matter what I say. In my opinion, though, it is just not worth the money. Especially when a parent sees how much work and hassle the whole game is. We've had more fun over the holidays playing with the basic board game "Trouble" that cost $10.
I would return the game if I could, but the stickers are in place, and the baggies are emptied. Tough luck for me, but maybe I can help someone else avoid the high sticker price, and the hassle.
