(More customer reviews)I've been reviewing quite a few of these Indiana Jones figures because my husband and I purchased a ton of them for my 8 year old's birthday. (Note that we're not as rich as you might think. The prices on these toys fluctuate WILDLY, sometimes doubling in price depending on who's doing the selling.)Overall, these action figures are about the size of Polly Pockets. But that's where the comparison with the girl-toys ends. These figures are a lot more detailed. Their faces are better done, and their clothing is more detailed, often having removable elements.
For example, with the Colonel here, you should know that the his gun holster and tassels are 3-dimensional. And his jacket, at the bottom, is of softer plastic. Where he is not so well done is in the head area. Unfortunately for us his cap came off, and unlike Dr. Daddy Jones, there's no bald scalp underneath, but a square peg. (And since the cap is now gone, that's all you see)Now... as to advising other parents and purchasers.
First, if you are an adult collector... have at. This jodhpured figure is fun.
HOWEVER, for you moms, dads, aunties and Et-ceteras, this figure comes with very small items that might be choking hazards: gun, riding crop, axe. And if not a choking hazard, they are all easily lost.
Which is to say that Colonel Vogel can be a fun figure, but that he isn't particularly sturdy. Thus, I'd say, you ought to best judge how much fun this toy will be for your child by how he/she plays. If they are really rough players, then you might do better with the bigger versions, or even the Lego Indie sets.
