Star Wars Clone Wars Grievous Spinning Lightsaber Review

Star Wars Clone Wars Grievous Spinning Lightsaber
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Is it fun? YES!
Is it fun for more than one kid? Uh. . .maybe.
You can share lightsabers but then there's no point in having the gyro handle if someone isn't using it as a single or double.
Material is the typical hard but slightly giving plastic found with other sabers.
Is it Cool? YES! Cools sounds. Also as a single, the gyro handle gives it the cool hilt of a sword kinda look.
Other single sabers are around $25, so for a bit less than the cost of two you get two, plus you get the General Grievous spinning action.
I can't imagine any kids trying to spin two of these, one in each hand like General Grievous. . .it's already a lot for an adult to handle one with both hands, since you need one hand to do the spinning and one to do the holding.
I imagine my kids, and others, are going to have lots of fun battles with this toy.

Star Wars Dual Action Lightsaber - SITH Review

Star Wars Dual Action Lightsaber - SITH
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Ehhh..closer to 3.5 stars. My son is in the throes of a major Star Wars: The Clone Wars addiction and this is somewhere around the sixth lightsaber in our house. That said, I am something of a lightsaber expert. Compared to others, this one is just average in features and a bit pricey..shop around and keep a few of things in mind:
1) This is NOT a "force action" lightsaber. In other words, it does not spring open with the touch of a button but rather must be opened with a flick of the wrist. OK for some kids, but smaller ones might have a hard time opening it fully.
2) The extra, smaller lightsaber works the same way. It detaches as advertised, but is somewhat balky to get re-attached. Also, it doesn't make any sound.
3) The sound of the big lightsaber is pretty realistic, but as one reviewer already noted it is not that bright compared to other electronic lightsabers..it also doesn't seem as loud. The small "blade" isn't very bright either. And all together this model uses more batteries than most.
4) If your kids are like mine, they will beat the living daylights out of anything and everything with these things..each other, trees, furniture, me, etc. The other electronic lightsabers my son and his cousin have used don't stand up very well to repeated whacks and ultimately lose either the sound or the light. That said, however, the plastic "blades" tend to hold up pretty well. It has been my experience that the manual versions like this one tend to have fewer problems opening and closing (long term) than the spring-open, "force action" variety.
Good luck, and may the Force be with you.

Star Wars The Clone Wars Purple Basic Lightsaber with Black & Grey Handle Review

Star Wars The Clone Wars Purple Basic Lightsaber with Black and Grey Handle
Average Reviews:

This is the basic one, no lights or sounds, and it's actually the one I want, because these are super tough, and there's no electronics to break and disappoint your kids later on. And no batteries to replace/recharge.
But it really should be $9-$10. That's what they sold for originally, alongside the blue/green/red ones.
Something happened, and Hasbro seems to have (at least for now) stopped making them, so they're rare, and overpriced. Free market at work, I guess.
I'm going to wait 'til they make another batch.

Anakin Skywalker FX Lightsaber Review

Anakin Skywalker FX Lightsaber
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is a really cool thing to own if you're a big Star Wars fan. I got it in the mail a few days ago and have been having fun with it since.
The metal hilt is very durable and well constructed. It's not an exact movie replica, the hilt is a little bigger than the ones they used in the movies because of all the electronics they had to stuff in there. But it's not overly huge or anything, like those cheap $15 you can buy at any toy store.
The blade is just awesome. The bright blue shines and glows even in well lit environments. But when you turn off all the lights and turn it on, it just looks really cool the way it glows in the dark. I thought it was also cool how when you turn it on or off, you can see the glow of the blade expanding and retracting as if it was a "real" lightsaber.
Now as someone else said, this isn't really the type of toy you just want to go around swinging madly and stage your own Anakin VS Obi-Wan fights (even though it will make a clashing noise when the blade is tapped). That's not to say it's not durable, because it is very well constructed, but I just don't think it would be wise to go bashing the blade into stuff.
It sounds really awesome too, just like in the movies. And the batteries (it takes 3 AA batteries [not included]) are quick and easy to install, you don't even need a screwdriver or anything.
I really see this as more of a collector's item (it even comes with a stand to proudly display it), something to show off to your friends, or maybe as a really good costume piece for halloween. I'm a bit of a sword collector myself, so I kind of see this as a nice addition to my collection.
If you've ever wanted to know what it feels like to hold the power of a lightsaber in your hand, this is probably the closest thing you're ever gonna get.

This product is a waste of money. It is very cheaply made. I bought two. I never could get the light to work on one of them. Then the tip fell off one sword within the first 30 minutes of play. Next the entire sword broke in two on the handle part. This is just one hour into play. I'm sorry I wasted my money, please don't waste yours.

The description lead me to believe this was a cutout not decals. I was disappointed when I saw it was decals that clung to the wall. I did not want to stick things to the newly painted walls in my son's room.
I bought some foam core board and mounted this on to that so I can still display it, as Rex is my son's favorite character and he loves it.
Overall a good product, just misleading description.

Star Wars Episode 3 Electronic Lightsaber Obi-Wan Kenobi Lightsaber Review

Star Wars Episode 3 Electronic Lightsaber Obi-Wan Kenobi Lightsaber
Average Reviews:

I have to agree with the review below, whoever came up with the idea of putting in a vibrating motor at Hasbro should be fired. Not only is the vibrating stupid (duh it vibrates just by striking something), but it makes this loud awful sound. Kind of like a vibrating cell phone. However, I found a simple solution. If you carefully unscrew all of the screws, beginning with the battery cover, and carefully pry open the two sides you can see the motor. Try and locate the red and black wires connecting to the motor and cut one of them. Make sure to either cut a section out or move the severed ends away so they don't rub and still complete the circuit. Voila no more annoying vibration, but still the sound and light. I understand some work is involved, however it's worth it. Maybe Hasbro will come out with a new one without the motor. I wouldn't be surprised if they've received tons of complaints.
I bought this one and my brother bought the Anakin lightsaber. Why? because someone has to be Obi-Wan. May the force be with you.

Luke Skywalker Force FX Lightsaber Review

Luke Skywalker Force FX Lightsaber
Average Reviews:

Me and my best friend decided to buy these, i really don't remember why i had the idea, but we had the money, and it was a cool idea. anyways, we've both seen all the star wars movies, but, really, we weren't big fans. actually, the closest thing we have to star wars in our everyday lives would be the Jedi Guy, who dresses up like Quigon Jin and rides around on his bike downtown every summer. point is, not star wars fans.
so, we bought them, the Luke model, and the Darth vader,[Star Wars Darth Vader Force FX Red Lightsaber] and had the best midnight sword fight ever. we were thinking of returning them too, untill we pulled them out and tried them. there freakin' amazing, for any kid or adult! I mean, these things have got two 17 year olds fighting with toy light sabers at dusk everyday.
they seem to be fairly durable. they have some scratches from being hit together, sometimes a little harder than what was intended, but they haven't broken thus far. and the scratches are only noticeable at a really close range when there on.
Final verdict, everyone should get these. not a must for any star wars fan, but anyone who likes a good sword fight and making a robot voice and pretending they have a long lost son named luke.

If you are like me and my wife: no time to buy fabric and make it yourself, then this is what you will get. A ready made robe for your young Jedi that is made of the same fabric stockings are made of.
Quality is definitely not synonymous with this item. I feel bad though. For writing all bad about this product though.
We got 4 good trick or treat events in October out of it. But I must say the threads are showing and unraveling. It has a sort of runs in a pantyhose look now and it served its purposes.

I love Star Wars and I love Lego so this thing is pretty awesome. I was honestly expecting an actual lego figure but it turned out to be a lego shaped figure. It is really durable and looks cool displayed in my room. I was debating to just keep it in the box and collect it but decided against it.
Overall, it is a pretty awesome display. I would love it even more if it was an actual posable lego figure.

Star Wars Episode 3 Electronic Lightsaber Anakin Skywalker Lightsaber Review

Star Wars Episode 3 Electronic Lightsaber Anakin Skywalker Lightsaber
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
"The Return of the Sith" line of lightsaber toys from Hasbro come in three models:
Annakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Yoda.
Each of these toys, beyond the basic 'light up' plus 'battle clash' sound effects (the authentic-sounding effects the lightsabers make when struck against another lightsaber or object), also 'hums' like an activated lightsaber in the movies. Also, each "ROTS" model lightsaber has one special feature:
Comparisons of special features:
Annakin = his saber has a button near the hilt of the plastic blade that transforms the blade's color from blue to red or vice versa. Whatever color you've chosen upon deactivating the saber is the same color that shows up first upon reactivating the toy -- a nice touch.
Obi Wan = his saber has a 'rumble' feature -- a small motor inside the handle -- that vibrates so that the user can supposedly have a more realistic battle experience when the blade strikes other sabers or objects. In practice, the motor tends to make rather too much noise, however the noise is somewhat less discernable when actually pretending to duel others. Unfortunately, the rumble feature is not optional, so it must always be "on."
Yoda = his saber has a "training mode" where in upon striking the blade a small speaker in the handle will say random things Yoda said in "The Empire Strikes Back." It is cute that Yoda's voice is coming from the handle, but in practice the speaker isn't loud enough to hear in the 'heat of combat' and anyway the things yoda says aren't the least bit helpful.
phrases Yoda says in his lightsaber "training mode"
- "you are reckless"
- "fought well you have"
- "you must face vader"
- "concentrate, feel the force flow"
- "remember, a jedi's strength flows from the force."
- "train with me! afraid, are you?"
Thankfully, the "training mode" is optional and can be turned off.
Comparison of blades in practical "play combat"
In practice, Annakin's blade and Obi-Wan's blade are equally matched. Both take 3 'AA' batteries, which last a long time. Both blades are extremely light, which belies their size. Both of these toys are an excellent size and are well priced. They provide a good workout and are a fine alternative to lazy video games. They also improve your reflexes as you both try to reenact the movies and make up your own moves. Even people who are in fine physical condition can easily work up a great sweat when 'play sword fighting.' One of my friends is in fencing at school and he says the colored blade actually is helpful in training, as it forces greater concentration. Also, the sound effects of both Annakin's and Obi Wan's blades are fun and easy to hear. The handle of Obi Wan's blade is slightly more comfortable and the plastic blade shows the color blue better than Annakin's. Annakin's blade offers two colors which is convenient if both you and your friend have the same annakin blade and you want yours to be a little different.
Yoda's blade is inferior to both Annakin's and Obi-wan's. It is shorter (as per the movies) by a full 'segment' or about fifteen centimeters, which on paper seems like a good 'handicap' for a skilled play swordsman against novice friends who have longer blades, but in practice yoda's blade suffers disasterously from its higher weight, bue to its 2 C battery power supply. The blade is seriously unbalanced, as the handle accounts for nearly 3/5 of the total length of the extended toy and it is overweight and uncomfortable to hold besides. As if this weren't enough, the heavier batteries die faster and the plastic used in the green blade is too thick for the bulb to light up in any impressive manner. It always looks a little dim.
the only advantage yoda's blade has is that the retracted blade stays in place if you invert it and clip it to your belt (the other two models slide out easily). This avantage quickly turns to a disadvantage because it is harder to EXtract, too when you want to pretend to go into combat. No matter which blade model you get, none of the blades retract fully into the handle, making each of these toys strictly for play combat and not for imaginative 'props' for a play costume or other imaginative games.
My advice -- buy annakin's or darth vader's blade. Both are light weight and a good sword length and overall superb toys. The batteries last a long time for either. Overall I say I like Obi-Wan's the best, even though it has the annoying rumble feature. It has the best handle comfort, which is what counts when 'playing swords.' Annakin's is good too though, so you can't lose no matter which you get. Get both!
Yoda's blade is clearly inferior and unless you like a heavy uncomfortable blade that's too short to use effectively, avoid it, avoid it, avoid it please.

Star Wars Clone Wars Ultimate Light Saber Review

Star Wars Clone Wars Ultimate Light Saber
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
There is a very similar product called the Ultimate Light Saber from a few years back out there [not Clone Wars affiliated] so don't confuse the two. This is new version and here are the Pros and Cons.
Pros:
Multiple looks - As the box implies, you can make several different looking saber hilts. I would not go so far as to say over 1000 combinations like the box does. You'd have to count every smallest variation, no matter how small, possible to make that number.. But you have enough parts to make several cool and distinct hilts.
Parts - And those parts are, 1 main hilt for all parts to attach to and where all the electronics are, 1 clear saber blade, 3 rings [the top that holds the blade] one of which has a detachable blade guard so could be counted twice, 4 hilt sleeves that can be placed in various combinations, 5 end caps, and 3 crystals [Blue, Red and Green].
Lights - These crystals can be stored in a compartment in the bottom of the hilt or placed in slots in another side compartment to control the color of the blade. You have red, blue and green but you can also mix and match the crystals to get purple, white (pinkish white), yellow and aqua for 7 colors. My favorite is to just leave the crystals out entirely so that every time the saber is activated is cycles to the next color. All these lights are generated by combinations of 9 LED lights in the hilt, not bulbs which is a big plus for durability and no lenses needed.
Sounds - Each color gets a sound. There are 3 distinct "saber hums" depending on what color the blade is. Where one generic hum probably would have been expected they put in 3 and that is pretty cool. Each hum also has its own distinctive active and deactivate sounds.
Hit Sounds - In addition to the hums and activation sounds there are about 4 hit sounds which are various swings and saber clashes that are activated when you strike something [like another saber]. It is not motion sensitive though, you do have to actually hit something but...
Durability - As much as I've changed the parts, pushed and pulled crystals and swung this around and banged it around with the kids it still looks like new and I've had no issues with anything breaking. That's a big plus in my book.
Cons:
< 1000 - Like I said, you'd have to be counting all the sounds, lights, putting things on backwards and upside down and all kinds of crazy stuff to get up to 1000 combo's. But I have about 4 really cool hilts I like plus the different sounds and lights so I'm happy.
Fighting - Because of the interchangeable nature of the toy it can sometimes happen that the ring gets loose or the sleeves move around a bit. But, once I found my favorite hilts and was sure to tighten them down I was in good shape.
The "L" Cap - There's some Sith [Maris Brood] that uses a handle on the side of the saber [like a billy club] and this cap is included but it is hard to use and a bit odd feeling plus for some reason they did not include a hole through which you can actually turn on the saber without doing that first then screwing the cap on. Weird. So, I just don't use it.
So six to three, pros win! And really those 3 cons were a bit of a reach and don't affect the fun of the toy really. With several cool looks and tons of different colors and sounds this is a solid fun and cool toy that I recommend.

I have been a big fan(geek)since I saw episode four in '77.Like many others in my age group who were counting down the days
for the release of 1 through 3,I believe this "scene in a box" sums up all our reasons why.We know what happens,we just wanted
to see it happen. As I stated in my title, this is not a toy. There are allot of small pieces inside this box,and I'm sure the
intent was to keep this box closed and on display. Not good at all for small children or if you intend to take it out of the
box to play around with. For the serious collector in my opinion, and worth every penny!
