(More customer reviews)We actually got this at Sam's for the same price ($80 originally on Amazon). A model was on display in the store, but at a height that made it difficult to see and was covered by a case, so you could not actually test it in the store or handle the pieces.
As soon as we got this home, my child immediately wanted to put it together. We started to remove the pieces and noticed the set looked... cheap. Flimsy plastic. So flimsy, in fact, that a piece was slightly bent. Not alot, but enough. It caused part of the set to line up improperly. You know when something has been in storage for a while and it maintains the shape it was stored in? Such is the case here. For $80, the plastic should be strong enough to not fall victim to this.
If that was the only issue, maybe we could have overlooked it. Maybe try a heavy book on it or something. Unfortunately, the entire set was flimsy. OK. OK. I am being overly dramatic, you say? I will concede the wooden logs were their usual greatness, but the rest of the set is made of seriously cheap plastic and... did I mention FLIMSY? If you applied minor pressure to nearly any part of this, it fell apart. Did I happen to mention FLIMSY plastic?
OK, yes, harping on the flimsy plastic issue. If we had bought this for $10, I would expect this. This thing is $80! It was promptly returned to the store the next day. My child specifically picked this out and was, of course, disappointed. Manufacturers should be ashamed of themselves for not only marketing this useless product, but to charge $80 for it? How do they sleep at night?
