My son has been given several as gifts ( both star wars and Spiderman crossovers) The age on the box is 5+ but there is no way a 5 year old could do it. My husband (who can build anything) gets so frustrated with these and having to constantly tranform them for him ( and he has a hard time) If you buy it as a space ship and don't tell them it transforms until they are older then it would be fine (if you got a great deal on it) otherwise stick to other transformers that are not the crossovers
