While it isn't cheap, this set allowed him and his partner in crime (our almost jine year old) the opportunity to build three separate things. There's the pyramid itself, then there's a scorpion, and then a small car and then there's a bunch of different characters with their own set of accessories. They had a lot of fun putting together and it continues to fascinate him. On the building ability front, we found this one challenging for the 7 year old. Every child approaches it differently. Our older son, however was able to work at it quite independently.
The price on Amazon was also about $12-$17 cheaper than other places and with Prime and no tax, it's a solid deal.
