Engino Mechanical Science: Gears Review

Engino Mechanical Science: Gears

This is a great concept for a toy but the execution leaves a lot to be desired. The models to illustrate the concept of gears quite well. Unfortunately, some of the models just don't work very well, if at all.

Star Wars Episode 3 AT-RT with AT-RT Driver Review

Star Wars Episode 3 AT-RT with AT-RT Driver
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The AT-RT Walker is one of the great vehicles that emerged from Episode III, Revenge of the Sith. It was featured for a couple of seconds in the actual movie but that doesn't really matter, does it? ;-)
To complete the Kashyyyk Battle Scence Collection, most Star Wars Fans would probably have to own at least of these AT-RT vehicles; the other being the BARC Speeder with BARC Trooper.
However, the visibility of screws on the AT-RT toy doesn't really looks good in a Collector's Diorama Setting. But at a price of just about US$15, how much more could we expect.
Another "un-collectible/undesirable" aspect of the AT-RT is that the AT-RT Driver figure that comes with it, is non-articulated. This could easily be solved by substituting that non-articulated figure with an articulated one from the Action Figures Series (Card #54 if I am not mistaken).
Overall, for a kid, this would be a cool toy.
But for the collector, the finishing of the toy leaves much to be desired. But with some imaginative positioning, one can still use the toy in a Kashyyyk Battle Scene Diorama without exposing its "flaws". An example would be to just place it in the background with the exposed screws concealed with artificial foliage leaving your Wookie Warriors, Commader Gree and Jedi Master Yoda to battle the Battle Droids in the foreground!

LEGO Star Wars A-Wing Fighter Review

LEGO Star Wars A-Wing Fighter
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This Lego kit is an excellent value. The kit builds a very solid A-Wing fighter that features movable guns mounted at the tip of each wing and a cockpit canopy that a person can raise toward the front of the A-Wing to reveal a green-suited pilot and a Lego block with a simulated horizon on it. As with many recent Lego kits, this kit features four decals.
Also included in this kit are a technician and a cargo hauler. The cargo hauler has smooth round pads on the bottom that allows someone to move the hauler on most surfaces.
Unlike some Legos in this series, the A-Wing has relatively few parts that a person might easily knock off in play. The engine parts behind the A-Wing are probably the most easily detached pieces, and those parts are surrounded by other pieces. If you are looking to make a diorama, you may wish to buy several of these kits because this kit looks so good.
This kit was relatively easy to build, and most builders in the target age range of 7 to 12 years old should be able to build this kit in under an hour.
We have enjoyed Legos for decades, and the Star Wars Legos have been especially interesting to us as we are also fans of Star Wars. This particular Star Wars Lego kit is an excellent value for the price, and is a perfect gift for children of all ages 7 and above.

Lego #1371 Spinosaurus Attack Studio Review

Lego #1371 Spinosaurus Attack Studio
Average Reviews:

I liked this lego set. It was fun to build and even more fun to play with. The airplane looks like the plane in the movie. There is a hook that keeps it stuck in the tree. My only complaint is that the plane is small inside so it only holds a few people. Otherwise a great set. The spinosaurus is really neat!

LEGO Dino Attack Urban Avenger vs. Raptor Review

LEGO Dino Attack Urban Avenger vs. Raptor
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
i bought this toy today as an art student majoring in toy design.
this product has value. like another viewer posted, the dinosaur alone is worth the ten bucks, hes very sturdy and his joints are on small ratchets so any child that can manipulate his limbs can play with him easily. his head and arms socket into his body, so as usual with lego toys they are nearly impossible to break because you just snap them back together.
the dune buggy itself is a favorite of mine because i'm just partial to dune buggies, but bias aside its a pretty good example of lego engineering. some of the cosmetic parts like bits of the engine and the antenna snap off the toy easily, but this is just cosmetic damage and nothing that cant be immediately remedied by the child playing with it.
the rubber rollcage does seem a little tacky at first, but after analyzing the toy i think its a good idea, the giant dinosaur can just smush it and chomp right through to the driver!
no matter which toy the child plays with you get your money's worth with this set, they'll either love the dunebuggy or the dinosaur and play with them exclusively, but legos are so durable that they'll be played with forever. i'd gladly pay double what lego is asking for this set.

LEGO Designer Sets: Mini Robots Review

LEGO Designer Sets: Mini Robots
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
It's about time Lego made robots. Transformers Armada is a great show (and Takara's transforming toys known here as Transformers are excellently made) but other than that, all the robot shows are just about "robot wars" and robots smashing each other up. Except for the Iron Giant, most of the movies with robots are like that also. Think of the great heritage of cartoon robots from Rosie on the Jetsons to Astro Boy to R2D2. They're more human than humans, with the best of human traits. Think of the wonderful tin toy robots from Japan in the '50s and '60s. How fascinating and beautiful they were. ... What's the other great appeal of robots and space toys? Imagination. Great play value for inventing things. I'm against the recent attempt to make toys "realistic"--so that the rockets are all Space Shuttles and "heroes" all drive police cars and tanks of today. How much better to imagine the police cars and tanks of tomorrow! Thanks to Lego for their imaginative toys.

This is a great toy which I enjoyed building in 20 minutes and lasted for a long time.
The jeep is great especially with the rocket launcher and the design is cool with much detail.
The mutant lizards are also really awesome. This is the third set of dino attack for me and
I will treasure it for a long time.
