Melody Express - Musical Train Review

Melody Express - Musical Train

My son received this for christmas (less than 3 months ago), and LOVES it. However, it has already stopped working after only moderate (and gentle) use. The train sticks at every couple of tiles (tiles are what make the musical sounds). I have replaced the battery, checked to be sure the track is snapped together well, and that the musical tiles are perfectly placed (which is a bit tricky anyway). We have it set up on a flat hard floor (not a carpet). Nothing is working, and my son is frustrated. The manual says not to press the contact buttons on the bottom of the engine. This seems a bit nutty and unrealistic since the toy is meant for a 3-year old (we know how they like to press buttons). I have personally never seen him press them (and we usually play with this together so mommy can build the songs), but I couldn't swear that he hasn't touched them. I am so disappointed, as is my son. I can't return it because I don't know where it was purchased from, so we are stuck with a faulty train. This would be a great toy if it was more durable.
Update: Attempted twice to contact the company with no response. The train has been trashed. We tried using it a few more times, and it got stuck every couple of tiles no matter what we tried. Then it got stuck "on". I had to remove the batteries to shut it off - and when I replaced the batteries, had the same problem (it will not shut off once it is turned on). Too bad - it was really fun while it lasted.

All aboard! This unique melody-building train set invites children to play composer and conductor at the same time. Lay down the note tiles (tracks) and let the electronic engine read them, creating a traveling song. No reading required -- just match the colors in the songbook to play seven children's songs and learn the C scale. Or, improvise your own tunes! Set of 60 pieces includes tiles (low C through high C), track segments, engine, coal car, train car with removable cargo, sticker sheet, songbook and engineer figure. Engine measures 6"L x4"W x 3"H. Requires four "AAA" batteries, not included.

LEGOVille Dinner Plates (8) Party Supplies Review

These are really fun birthday party plates! My son can't wait for his lego fire/police birthday party next week. They are a little expensive, and I wish more places carried them, but they are very neat. Ordering from amazon as opposed to directly through the party site saved some money on shipping at least.

LEGO? Ville Dessert Plates (8) Party Supplies Review

These plates say that they are LEGO Ville and we assumed that it would match the city series but instead my son (11) said that they were DUPLO blocks. He was disappointed. What do I know about looking like DUPLO instead of the older series. I will look closer the next time I order. The price of the plates and napkins were reasonable but the shipping made them too expensive. You would be wise to look for them in a local store if you can find them.
