(More customer reviews)The First time I plyed this game was at a Convention for upcoming products from movies (The Mummy Returns, Tomb Raider, Planet of the Apes, ect.). The JPIII Section was the first I tried out. This game reminded me of the old "Jurassic Park" board game. The game's object is simple...try to get off the island without becoming lunch. You can play several different Charecters from the film (sorry, but I wasn't counting how may player there can be). You roll the dice and take as many steps as possible. Watch out, though. Raptors, A T-rex and most of all, The Spinosuarus, will be coming after you. The art design of the cover box looks exactly like the original JP board game design (I just love how in every JP sign, it's always a red-black-and-orange colored sky, kinda like it's always Dusk in JP!!!) This game is great for kids to play, espically if they like JP, which I highly doubt because JP is an old movie an kids won't really get the whole DNA thing or cloning thing untill they're probably 12 (heck, it took me several years to relize the whole scientific ting in JP...I was 5 when I saw it!!!). Great game, Great fun.

Players determine before the game starts whether they will be a human attempting to escape the island--or the dinosaur looking for its next snack. If you choose to be human, the goal is to get through the five dino-packed territories and to the beach before being caught by a vicious beast. First human off the island wins. If you choose to be a dinosaur, the object is to make sure that none of the humans reach the beach. If all humans are defeated, dinosaurs roam victorious. Various cards and a roll of the dice determine the action sequences. Five different breeds of prehistoric beasts inhabit the island, including the pteranodon, Spinosaurus, and T-Rex.

Fisher-Price TRIO Dinosaur Review

(More customer reviews)I don't post a lot of reviews on anything, but I feel like the Trio sets deserve the praise. I'll keep it brief with my personal pros, cons, and a summary.
PROS
1) Sturdy pieces. Nothing breakable here! (If we have grandkids way down the road, these will still be great)
2) Nice variety. Most of the blocks look similar at a glance but many connect in different directions.
3) Creations that are built will stay together.
4) Wide age range. Our 4 yr old makes cute stuff but our 10 year old and his friends also make guns, spaceships, tanks, submarines, robots, etc. You name it.
5) Intuitive. Just like Legos, the kids just know what to do.
6) No tiny pieces. Tired of the really tiny lego pieces? I am. These are easy to see and pick up -before- you hear them in the vacuum cleaner.
CONS
1) Price. I feel the price is high for plastic, like Legos. I'm patiently watching Amazon and Fisher Price for discounts.
2) Hard to snap together. I have to concede these are a sort of hard to snap, but don't make that the deciding factor. Your kids will overcome this.
SUMMARY
I originally bought a few Trio sets just because they were on sale, in fact they were sort of "filler" Christmas gifts for our younger son. They turned out to be a huge surprise and I absolutely recommend them if you have boys between 3-10 years old. (It still amazes me at how much my 10 year old plays with them.) My wife is an artist and she loves the creative aspect. We both appreciate that our 4 year old can actually play with his Trio creations, they aren't fragile like so many of our Lego sets. As a last note: When we turn off the TV and the kids have to find a toy or game or book or something to do, playing with the Trio blocks is frequently the choice they make, and that says more than everything I've written here.

Mega Brand's Magna-Saurs - Tyranno Review

(More customer reviews)My daughter is really into dinosaurs and wanted this toy for her birthday last year, so grandma got it for her. The magnets aren't very strong so the pieces fall off and it is pretty much useless. It was donated before this year's birthday. Spend your money elsewhere...seriously.

Pteranodon Review

(More customer reviews)We are big fans of the Papo dinos and the growing collection. They are the most realistic, zoologically-researched miniatures on the market. The Pterosaur is without equal, especially the subtle coloring. I don't know how they produce them for the price. They are made of vinyl which makes them virtually unbreakable. They are made to be played with, but I occasionally steal one and place him on my consulting room bookshelf. They are the best. And we look forward to each new addition to the line. Something I can share with my kids--a toy for kids, but with the realism that I appreciate.

King Kong vs. V-Rex Battling Game Review

(More customer reviews)I recently bought this for my 5-1/2 year old son and he seems to get more frustrated with it than he does having fun playing with it. I suppose the concept is along the lines of "Rockem Sockem Robots" -- with King Kong and Rex though, there is a small button in front (flush with the body) that has to be pushed (presumably by the other toy) in order for them to collapse. The problem is that there's no way that having these two go at it is going to get that button pushed -- you have to do it yourself. Once they are collapsed you have to wind their bodies back to their original position which is difficult for me and nearly impossible for a child. The other problem is the stands that are intended for them to be on while fighting -- they shouldn't have even bothered with them. They can hardly stay put on the stands when they're not fighting let alone when they are. I'd say that the only redeeming qualities about this toy is that for $20 they are well made & sturdy, realistic looking and a nice size for a child's hands.
