Space Shuttle 140 Piece Best Lock Construction Toy with Action Figure Review

Space Shuttle 140 Piece Best Lock Construction Toy with Action Figure
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Our boys enjoyed building these, but there are definite draw backs in quality.
The biggest issue I have with it is that its not really as pictured on the box. I can only presume that was the marketing's target product, but there are several difference from what you end up with. The main differences are in the wings, and the cab area, neither are nearly as realistic as the box implies (see image I've uploaded for what it looks like built).
The second issue we have is durability. Presumably Lego has some secret plastic formula that make their stuff work well, but these blocks alternate between requiring force to put together, or spontaneously disassembling themselves. I can only assume heat or elasticity of the plastic is to blame, but it is very frustrating for a young engineer.

LEGO City Set #7848 Toys R Us Truck Review

LEGO City Set #7848 Toys R Us Truck

I had purchased the Toys R Us lego set a week ago & it took about 5 days for it to ship & come. This is one of a special edition that does not sell on lego's website or at any Toys R Us stores anymore, so I was happy to get this for $50. Even though I'm not sure if it was the owner's part or the UPS part for sort of ruining the lego box, I wasn't too happy to see the box in a non-mint condition (I keep all my lego boxes in mint condition). But overall, everything was alright.

Star Wars Clone Wars Grievous Spinning Lightsaber Review

Star Wars Clone Wars Grievous Spinning Lightsaber
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Is it fun? YES!
Is it fun for more than one kid? Uh. . .maybe.
You can share lightsabers but then there's no point in having the gyro handle if someone isn't using it as a single or double.
Material is the typical hard but slightly giving plastic found with other sabers.
Is it Cool? YES! Cools sounds. Also as a single, the gyro handle gives it the cool hilt of a sword kinda look.
Other single sabers are around $25, so for a bit less than the cost of two you get two, plus you get the General Grievous spinning action.
I can't imagine any kids trying to spin two of these, one in each hand like General Grievous. . .it's already a lot for an adult to handle one with both hands, since you need one hand to do the spinning and one to do the holding.
I imagine my kids, and others, are going to have lots of fun battles with this toy.

Star Wars Episode 1 Electronic Naboo Royal Starship Blockade Cruiser Playset Review

Star Wars Episode 1 Electronic Naboo Royal Starship Blockade Cruiser Playset
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is an excellent playset/vehicle recreation of the Star Wars ship. A few drawbacks you should be aware of. 1)The landing gear is popped on and off every time it "flies" anywhere, rather than being stored on the ship a la The original Millenium Falcon. 2)The top won't close all the way when figures sit in the cockpit seats.3)The various battle damage panels and landing ramp tend to fall off in flight as they are not connected at all. 4)It is HUGE! There is just no weildy place to display this, Star Wars fans. It's ONE YARD LONG! 5)It's kind of thin flimsy plastic due to it's size. I thought I would break it every time I picked it up. On the other hand, the sound effects are killer, and the IR battle droid fighter action is the coolest idea Hasbro has come up with yet. You hit the ship with an Infra red blast 3 times and the panels (and little red droid) blow off and sirens wail. Way cool! Amazon's price tag is the best offer anywhere, even with shipping, you save off what you'd pay at Target or Walmart. So get crackin' and pick one up! Little Anikin is waiting on Tatooine!

What a fun toy! This toy will entertain small and big kids. The sabers all fit in his hands, the grappling hook gun really works, and the force battleing action also works. I'm impressed. More importantly, my son (5 years) is impressed. This is a great toy for adult collectors with young children who want to play with their kids but not the collectible toys. A shade more expensive than the 3" figures but the kids can really grab 'em, play with them, and have fun.

The item's picture and description misrepresent the product. It's not a "WWII Russian Infantry & Tank Set", as promised in the item's title, it's just the kit, containing of pieces of soldiers and no tank at all. Nowhere in the description it said that it doesn't include the tank and that the Infantry is a "do-it-yourself" model kit. My son was very dissapointed and upset!

Crayola Glow Explosion Spin Magic Review

Crayola Glow Explosion Spin Magic
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have a 6 year old and thought this would be a great art project to do together. However, as fun as this sounds, it is a frustrating experience.
My observations:
-The markers were difficult to use. I had to push and push on them to get the ink flowing and then my daughter got frustrated trying to color. You have to use short strokes and squeeze the markers very hard to keep getting ink.
-The paper cutouts are easy to punch out.
-You have to be very careful how you attach the clips for the mobile. Because you plug them into the base (which spins two ways) you have to watch out or you tie up all the clips in one rotation.
-The spinning shadow scene was a bit easier to use on the spinning base but still a pain to color.
-The glowing colors were okay and it was fun to watch for a little while. The colors were not what a would consider an "explosion" however. They are very muted compared to the photo on the box.
-The glow in the dark aspect only lasts 4 hours (according to the box.) It didn't last nearly that long for us.
-You need 2 AA batteries which are NOT included in the box.
My daughter enjoyed it for all of 10 minutes. Not something we would recommend until they can fix the problem with the ink in the markers. It's a great idea- but fails in execution.

My five-year-old son put this together, with me just looking over his shoulder and pointing out details in the instructions when he missed something. It's a delight in every way. It has a launcher that works elegantly with just rubberbands. There's lots of opportunity for imaginative play. It was a marvelous learning experience and achievement for him. The instructions were crystal clear and every piece was accounted for. It looks totally 'cool' , but not cheap or flashy, and it's plenty sturdy,I can't say enough to adequately praise this item!

Lego 8070 Technic Super Car Review

Lego 8070 Technic Super Car
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
About the Set itself:
Not since the Ferrari Enzo 8653 and Ferrari Fiorano 8145 has there been a set as detailed and sophisticated as this, the Supercar 8070. Unlike the previous two, the Supercar is branded as a Technic, not a Ferrari, and this one is motorized. The motor does not move the car, instead it moves the front hood, right and left doors (independently), and extends and retracts the rear spoiler. All this is done with a pretty neat shift knob in the passenger compartment. If you missed your chance to get the previous sets, the Supercar not only continues, but improves on the previous sets.
About the Amazon listing:
Just to reaffirm the previous reviews, buying the Supercar is a rip off from Amazon, even if you consider all of the benefits of buying from Amazon. If you buy from Lego.com, you will have to pay for shipping and taxes. Now, Lego occasionally have free shipping promotions on big orders around 75 to 100 dollar purchases, so you only have to pay for taxes during those periods. As for Amazon, you can't buy directly from Amazon; this is where the problem comes in. If you want free shipping, you have to buy from "Fulfilled by Amazon" merchants, who sell the sets around 150 dollars, 30 dollars more than the MSRP, and if you're unlucky, taxes on top of that. If you buy from the cheapest merchant, you will have to pay for taxes and shipping, which will hover around the 150 dollar mark anyways. So the best solution would be to be patient and wait for Lego to have one of their free shipping promotions to get this set.

Pirates of the Caribbean 2: 200-Piece Flying Dutchman Playset Review

My kids were getting very frustrated with the connections of masts and hulls. They are very poorly designed and "pressure" fit to a point where they easily pop off. Both boats - the Royal Dutchman and Black Pearl - have poor fitting. Compared to lego, the ability for parts to connect and stay connected is extremely poor.
I plan to write a letter to Mega Blocks about this quality issue.

Star Wars Starfighter Vehicle E3 Ve01 Anakin Skywalker Jedi Starfight Review

Star Wars Starfighter Vehicle E3 Ve01 Anakin Skywalker Jedi Starfight
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This, the last expected episode in the Star Wars saga should certainly bring about a long line of product that might seem never ending. So, it begins with the Sneak Preview line of toys, which to date includes 4 figures, and Anakin's Starfighter
We've seen starfighters before. We've seen x-wings, a-wings, tie fighters and virtually every vehicle and weapon in the Star Wars saga. So, is this Starfighter any different?
The answer to that is, yes, and no. No. It's not a whole lot different. The price is typical of Hasbro's Star Wars line of vehicles this size. There's not a lot different in that it has two firing missles, and the wings open up. The cockpit opens, and allows for an Anakin figure to fit in. A nice novelty is that it comes with a "generic" R2-D2 who's dome spins, and, can be removed and replaced with an actual R2-D2 figure. A really nice touch.
The design itself is rather cool. (Leaves one to wonder where the engine is at, though). But, it's unique design is definately
cool.
Durability? Quality seems similar to previous starfighters. Drop it too hard, and I'm sure something will break. But, not super fragile, either. It's pretty decent heavy duty plastic quality.
Kids who like Star Wars should like this as much as any previous version of starfighters. The fact it comes in a cool box and has a cool design doesnt hurt things.
As is typical with Star Wars products, "Figures not included".
One annoyance, at least to me, is with the decal instructions. The Star Wars vehicles come with a 2 dimensional picture that looks different than the actual product. If one is not looking for a purist's placement, then it will not matter. For those who want the decals placed in the proper place, this might be a bit annoying.
For collectors, I won't swear that this is going to increase in value; however, if I were to guess it, I'd think it should. The reason is, with this being the last episode Lucas plans on making, I do believe we will see the largest line of toys ever.
That said and done, this Sneak Peak starfighter could be of interest to collectors down the line. I say this because I suspect that this packaging won't last too much after the movie is released, and the new line comes out. Therefore, this may be in demand later. At least that's my gamble. And, if not, at least it's a cool looking starfighter.
Bottomline: This is a must have starfighter for collectors and fans alike. It's cool, not overly expensive at $20, and, pretty fun for kids. A definate thumbs up on this one.
SCORE: 95 of 100.

Star Wars Dual Action Lightsaber - SITH Review

Star Wars Dual Action Lightsaber - SITH
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Ehhh..closer to 3.5 stars. My son is in the throes of a major Star Wars: The Clone Wars addiction and this is somewhere around the sixth lightsaber in our house. That said, I am something of a lightsaber expert. Compared to others, this one is just average in features and a bit pricey..shop around and keep a few of things in mind:
1) This is NOT a "force action" lightsaber. In other words, it does not spring open with the touch of a button but rather must be opened with a flick of the wrist. OK for some kids, but smaller ones might have a hard time opening it fully.
2) The extra, smaller lightsaber works the same way. It detaches as advertised, but is somewhat balky to get re-attached. Also, it doesn't make any sound.
3) The sound of the big lightsaber is pretty realistic, but as one reviewer already noted it is not that bright compared to other electronic lightsabers..it also doesn't seem as loud. The small "blade" isn't very bright either. And all together this model uses more batteries than most.
4) If your kids are like mine, they will beat the living daylights out of anything and everything with these things..each other, trees, furniture, me, etc. The other electronic lightsabers my son and his cousin have used don't stand up very well to repeated whacks and ultimately lose either the sound or the light. That said, however, the plastic "blades" tend to hold up pretty well. It has been my experience that the manual versions like this one tend to have fewer problems opening and closing (long term) than the spring-open, "force action" variety.
Good luck, and may the Force be with you.

I had purchased theBarbie Chat-with-Me Jelly Talkies Set of 2 - Pink for my girls for Christmas. The things had NO range and were clumsy to use and to top it all off they took expensive watch batteries. After finding these Barbie's going back.
These have a great range good clarity and although small in size are easy to use for my 4 & 6 year olds. And for added fun my husbands radios that we take on camping trips can be set to the same channels now its a 4 way conversation.
I recommend these to any parent looking for a walkie talkie type toy. Have fun with them, I know we will!
