Lego 8070 Technic Super Car Review

Lego 8070 Technic Super Car
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
About the Set itself:
Not since the Ferrari Enzo 8653 and Ferrari Fiorano 8145 has there been a set as detailed and sophisticated as this, the Supercar 8070. Unlike the previous two, the Supercar is branded as a Technic, not a Ferrari, and this one is motorized. The motor does not move the car, instead it moves the front hood, right and left doors (independently), and extends and retracts the rear spoiler. All this is done with a pretty neat shift knob in the passenger compartment. If you missed your chance to get the previous sets, the Supercar not only continues, but improves on the previous sets.
About the Amazon listing:
Just to reaffirm the previous reviews, buying the Supercar is a rip off from Amazon, even if you consider all of the benefits of buying from Amazon. If you buy from Lego.com, you will have to pay for shipping and taxes. Now, Lego occasionally have free shipping promotions on big orders around 75 to 100 dollar purchases, so you only have to pay for taxes during those periods. As for Amazon, you can't buy directly from Amazon; this is where the problem comes in. If you want free shipping, you have to buy from "Fulfilled by Amazon" merchants, who sell the sets around 150 dollars, 30 dollars more than the MSRP, and if you're unlucky, taxes on top of that. If you buy from the cheapest merchant, you will have to pay for taxes and shipping, which will hover around the 150 dollar mark anyways. So the best solution would be to be patient and wait for Lego to have one of their free shipping promotions to get this set.

LEGO? Road Construction Set (6187) Review

LEGO? Road Construction Set (6187)

My son loves building and especially loves Legos and saw this set and really wanted it and given how great these small Lego's are for hand/finger dexterity as well as further developing a strong pincer grasp we bought them. Right out of the box I could tell that this set was going to be a little difficult for him. There are A LOT of little and TINY pieces and some of the pieces were VERY hard for me to snap in let alone my four year old. But, that didn't stop us, we took our time and slowly went over each step together and looked for all the pieces we needed and really enjoyed building the vehicles. I'm thrilled we purchased this set as we had such a nice time working on this together and as I mentioned Legos are fantastic for the hands/fingers. But I would definately note that the box does say 4+ and unless your child is used to making fairly complex vehicles and has an excellent pincer grasp with pretty strong hands, this will not be something he will be able to do on his own. I did read someone's review who said their 5 year old loves it and had no problems putting these vehicles together, I absolutely believe that as there is a big difference in these particular abilities specifically in boys between 4 and 5. I have mentioned "he" or "boys" in this review because although many girls would enjoy this set, girls almost always have a much more highly developed pincer grasp at the age of 4 than boys so I really felt that what I was trying to relay was more boy specific.
Given all the other reviewers did such an excellent job in letting everyone know not only their experience with this set but also what the set contained etc. I did not want to bore everyone with the same information they most likely already read in another review. This review was based on our experiences in order to aid you in your purchasing decision. When it all comes down to it, no one knows your childs abilities better than you do. I think it's important to be able to set proper expectations for a toy and a lot of times the age limits the manufacturers put on the boxes don't quite coincide with a childs abilities at that age. So, I hope this review has given you some additional information as to what you "may" experience if buying this for a four year old. Overall, I feel this set is a great buy and fantastic for aiding in the further development of the skills I mentioned above as well as learning to "read" the directions (no words are used so even a child who can't read yet can follow the directions) and developing patience, I highly recommend it!

My nephew & I had a great time putting this set together. I purchased it as a tool in helping him to concentrate and focus as he was having problems in those areas in school. So, it was a great educational tool as well.

The digger is busy on site when the massive delivery truck arrives with the roof and wall sections. Helped by the workers on the elevator, the XXL mobile crane lifts them into place one piece at a time.

Air Force One 55 piece Construction Set Review

Easy to put together, for my 10 and 7 y.o. daughters, little lego mavens that they are. Would be good for a younger kid, too, as long as they were past the eat-the-legos age. I didn't get it as a challenge, rather as a fun thing since we were headed for a trip to DC. Its really very nice for the price and a great addition if your kids spends lots of time lost in alternate lego-reality like mine do.
Plus then they get to choose their own lego minifig to be president, but *she* has to ride on top of it, there's no inside. :)
Thumbs up!

Lego Duplo Digger 4986 Review

Lego Duplo Digger 4986
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
My 3yo LOVES construction trucks! He's the kindof kid that you hear naming off all the trucks as we drive by. And he knows their real names, like this one is actually a "crawler excavator" if you wanna be precise! He's all about the realism, so the crawlers HAVE to work and the excavator arm HAS to be articulated in the correct areas, and the cab has to spin 360 degrees, and it had to be the correct colors & right scale.
Leave it to Lego Duplo to make a realistic, sturdy, and fun toy that has all these and more! We bought him all the construction sets, as he needed to have all the trucks. We hemmed & hawed over the price of this "digger" as it cost more than all the sets we bought, which had multiple trucks & blocks & such in them. But we bit, and I'm glad we did!
This one is his favorite truck! It's big(right scale) and perfect. He slept with it the first night he got it and it's been his constant companion ever since.
The price isn't nice BUT it isn't sold in the states, so there you go. You won't be disappointed in the size or quality, and if your child likes construction, this is the perfect addition to your child's collection. And you can't go wrong with Lego Duplo anyways, so it's worth the gamble in my book. Legos my distructo brothers had back 30 years ago are now my 10 year old son's. Still look new! So you know Lego is money well spent. Unlike a cheaper version which might not even last your own child a year. Built to last. Realistic. Fun. Endless play value.
What is not to love?

Magformers / Magnetic Building Carnival 38-piece Set Review

Magformers / Magnetic Building Carnival 38-piece Set
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I bought this toy from QVC for Christmas for my granddaughter. In fact, I bought several sets as one alone is not enough to make more than a few simple things. Buy two or more to make some of the bigger items displayed in their brochure plus more than one of the little things.
The pieces are extremely well made and durable. The magnets do not reject/repel but turn within the bar to enable a constant and secure fit each time. The brochure is detailed enough to enable an adult to easily make something immediately while showing a preschooler and their being able to make it themselves right away.
In fact, it's a great toy for anyone age 3 and above..hours of fun and easy clean-up! All the pieces stick easily together for fast cleanup and put away.
My granddaughter loves it! It easily occupies her for at least an hour each play period. She makes not only the things displayed in the brochure but has now come up with some of her own. Not only does she play but more likely than not Daddy and Mommy join in too...it's that fun.
Great toy Highly Encourage!
