LEGO SpongeBob Adventures at Bikini Bottom Review

LEGO SpongeBob Adventures at Bikini Bottom
Average Reviews:

After reading the reviews by other parents stating that this Lego set is "too much for a 7 year old" - well, I had to write something. This is an excellent and very interactive set. The age range is 7-12, so that does not mean you can drop it in the lap of your 7 year old and miracles will happen! This set needs adult help for younger kids, while my older kid put it together in minutes!
It has great features which make it more than just building, you play catapult-like games with the highly creative toys you just built - a bed that throws SpongeBob out of it, 2 catapults for firing play jellyfish, and of course, a car and interactive basketball hoop inside SpongeBob's house.
Note to parents for kids 7-8, you may ACTUALLY need to get down on the ground and play with your kids! Surprise! Older kids can build this fairly easily and seem to invent a lot of games to play with their brothers/sisters.
I give this set 5 stars because it combines the challenge of buliding with legos, but has more small creative gizmos to play with once the set is built. And as a last comment to people who complain that legos fall apart and need to be reassembled... duh!
If you like to play with your 7-9 year old and don't want to use legos as a babysitter, this is the top lego set available for the price! For older kids, they will get a tremendous amount of enjoyment (provided they like SpongeBob).

SpongeBob SquarePants The Krusty Krab Play Set Review

SpongeBob SquarePants The Krusty Krab Play Set
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
We parents, will do almost anything insane when our kids are involved. I bought this Spongebob Krusty Krab set for my 9 year old for Christmas. She was asking for the Spongebob "action" figures. Those were nowhere to be found, except selling on Amazon or Ebay for 2-3 times the original retail price. I bought those, too. The play sets - the Krusty Krab, Spongebob's Bedroom, and the Ship - have one of the "action" figures included, Spongebob. The rest of the play set is composed of cheap hard plastic that will easily break. And it's just a simple prop, not a detailed Krusty Krab restaurant. In the end I regained a bit of my sanity; I gave her the "action" figures, but took this play set back to Target. If you really have to have it for your kid, Target and Walmart sell them for $14.99. I didn't think they were worth that, thus the reason i returned them.

LEGO Avatar Air Temple Review

LEGO Avatar Air Temple
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
We bought this for our 8 year old daughter. It requires a good deal of time to put together and will require Mom or Dad's help (in our case, both). This made the toy a good family activity and we were able to put it together sitting in the middle of the living room floor over the course of several nights. The lego mechanics used are neat and thought provoking. My daughter has enjoyed playing with the legos and uses her imagination to rearrange them to build different items around the temple. I would recommend a plastic storage box for the temple and its associated pieces, otherwise you will be finding them with your feet and vacuum cleaner. Do count on further family activities as you engage in Avatar vs. Fire Nation battles with your child. I only gave four stars because of the complexity of the directions. An older child (about 10) would be able to assemble this alone, but may not get as much enjoyment out of it. It is definitely a family fun activity that any Avatar fan will enjoy.

Monopoly? SpongeBob SquarePants? Edition Review

Monopoly? SpongeBob SquarePants? Edition
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Monopoly has undergone yet another facelift- the Spongebob Squarepants edition features Pineapples and Krusty Krabs in lieu of houses and hotels. Play as SB, Patrick, Sandy Cheeks, Mr. Krabs, Squidward or Gary the Snail. "Community Chest" and "Chance" cards have been replaced with "Treasure Chest" and "Life Preserver" cards. This particular version has a unique twist: a "Plankton coin" is placed on the 1st property ("Plankton's Lab"). Everytime a player rolls a "1" on the dice, Plankton advances 1 spot. When he makes it all the way around the board to the Krusty Krab (which replaces "Boardwalk"- "Park Place" is Spongebob's Pineapple), the game is automatically over, no matter who's turn is next. Players then tally up their net worth ($$$, property and all) and the player worth the most dough wins. This is a nice feature when playing with impatient kids that may not have the tolerance to sit through a traditional Monopoly marathon. Our kids are learning the value of money- my 6 year old son realized he'd have to forego buying the "Mermalair" if he wanted to buy the Krusty Krab. He has since decided to save his allowance for an upcoming Chicago trip instead of blowing it on toys or candy. I also have my kids count the money out to me, which their teachers tell me has improved their schoolwork regarding money. So, yes, this is a very educational game- kids learn you have to earn money and spend it wisely to come out on top. We love it and so will you.

Hasbro The Game of Life - Bikini Bottom SpongeBob SquarePants Edition Review

Hasbro The Game of Life - Bikini Bottom SpongeBob SquarePants Edition
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I got this for my almost 5 and 6 yr olds who are big-time Spongebob fans. This game is absolutely adorable and loads of fun for our whole family! The board is an outrageously colorful and fun representation of Bikini Bottom. There are 3-D buildings of Patrick's, Squidward's, & Spongebob's houses, The Krusty Crab, The Chum Bucket, Mrs. Puff's Boating School, The Anchor, & The Shady Shoals Rest Home. The pawns are delightful and substantial 3-D plastic renditions of Spongebob, Patrick, Squidward, & Mr. Krabs that ALWAYS stay standing on their adequate base!! I can't stand those cheapo cardboard pawns with the tiny stands!!! There is no accumulation of children in this game version, but one does decide on whether to attend college or not (and pick a corresponding career), adopt a pet, and chose a home. There are life tiles($100 each)to earn for doing decent things and expenses to pay for unfortunate or typical Bikini Bottom life events. There are also Raffle cards to help earn extra money by game of chance spins. The writing on all of the cards is witty and humorous. I won't spill the beans about the pets, careers, homes, expenses, life cards or raffle cards because they are just so cute and funny!! My kids think the cards are a riot! The winner is determined once every player has reached Shady Shoals rest home by greatest net worth. The game moves along at just the right pace and my kids had no problem learning the rules. It is a great teacher of reading and money counting ($1,000's & $100's only)as well as decision making and consequences of behavior. Game play really does even out any skill level because much of the game is chance based by the numerical spinner to make your move. I paid full price for this game and I think it is well worth every penny! A++++++, FABULOUS GAME!!!!!!!

Avatar Air Launching Aang & APPA Review

Avatar Air Launching Aang and APPA
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I purchased this toy for my son, for his 7th Birthday. He plays with this toy more than anything else! APPA can tell when you pretend to make him fly, and makes his battle noises. Aang flies really far, I would suggest that you use it outside unless you have vaulted ceilings! Very cool toy! All of my kids try to play with it, they range from 2 to 16 years! (Not for small children)
