(More customer reviews)Every year's Playmobil Advent Calendar is a treat. The calendar basically has two parts, both revolving around 24 little playmobile animals, Santas, presents, and other Christmas-oriented toys: (1) a stand-up sheet to which parents attach 24 little boxes, one for each day of December until Christmas, and (2) a little tableau, where the kids can set up the toys as they open them. Each day, the kids get to open a box and place the toy on the tableau, setting up a scene that will be finished by Christmas Eve.

The 2008 calendar, "Christmas in the Forest," is my favorite yet. Santa is bringing presents (mostly food) to the animals of the forest, so the set has a bunch of mother and baby animals, together with Santa, a sled, and plenty of delicious treats. Playmobil did a great job with this year's calendar. If you don't have one yet, go get one and catch up!

Tier Toys Animal Stackers - Noah's Ark Set Review

(More customer reviews)This is quite a confusing puzzle -with lots of little pieces and layers that have to be added on to build the boat. There is no way to keep all the pieces together except when the Ark is built--but then when you want to do the puzzle you have to take it all apart before you begin. My 4 year old grandson who loves puzzles, had some fun with it in the beginning but ran out of steam after a couple of levels had been done. It might work better for older kids.

LEGO Duplo Legoville Big Farm (5649) Review

(More customer reviews)Our granddaughter will be three in early April. She played with this LEGO kit yesterday for the first time and loved it. I put the barn together with her help fairly quickly. Then she arranged the animals, moved fences, opened doors and windows, played with the tractor, etc. She had a great time, especially correcting me when I would put a cow or chicken where it clearly did not belong. She has already announced that when she comes back to see us in a few days, we should take apart our existing arrangement (the one shown on the box) and build something new. That's part of the beauty of LEGO. The building possibilities are endless. Great for a child's creativity. Plus, the kits are just fun to build and play with. The blocks are extremely durable, and none of the blocks in this kit are really small. The barn also has a winch that can be used to raise items to the barn's upper level.
My whole family has been fans of LEGO for a long time. This kit clearly won the approval of the small girl at our house yesterday.

There are 8 animals .... though with the imagination this set instills, I expect to be seeing 'cy-borg' animals soon.
