(More customer reviews)Every year's Playmobil Advent Calendar is a treat. The calendar basically has two parts, both revolving around 24 little playmobile animals, Santas, presents, and other Christmas-oriented toys: (1) a stand-up sheet to which parents attach 24 little boxes, one for each day of December until Christmas, and (2) a little tableau, where the kids can set up the toys as they open them. Each day, the kids get to open a box and place the toy on the tableau, setting up a scene that will be finished by Christmas Eve.

The 2008 calendar, "Christmas in the Forest," is my favorite yet. Santa is bringing presents (mostly food) to the animals of the forest, so the set has a bunch of mother and baby animals, together with Santa, a sled, and plenty of delicious treats. Playmobil did a great job with this year's calendar. If you don't have one yet, go get one and catch up!

It's not a "WWII Russian Infantry & Tank Set", as promised in the item's title, it's just the kit, containing of pieces of soldiers and no tank at all. Nowhere in the description it said that it doesn't include the tank and that the Infantry is a "do-it-yourself" model kit. My son was very dissapointed and upset!

Action figures 200 pieces with American, British, German & Japanese (WII) model 522 Review

(More customer reviews)Here is a good one-stop shopping bucket for many poses of toy army men. The figures are made by the HingFat toy manufacturing company of China. There are 4 nationalities each in its own color, and at least 12 poses per nationality. You get a good variety and a good quantity for the price.
Those of you who remember Louis Marx and Company army men will be disappointed in these knock-offs. Although many of the poses will be familiar, in reality these figures are slightly smaller and less detailed than the Marx figures. They are also molded of a harder plastic that will snap more easily than the classics. You can see lots of sprue twists and mold lines in the figures. Sculpts are not very crisp. Some of the poses are slightly out of scale as if the molds were acquired from different sources.
Historically speaking there is good and bad here. At nationalities at least have proper national weapons. You also gotta love the national stereotypes: the Brits have a bagpiper, the Japanese have a sword wielding officer, one of the Germans looks much like Rommel. Many poses are familiar from famous photos. On the other hand, the German army has a Bundesrepublik Deutschland flag, U.S.A has a 50 star flag.
Kids young and old will certainly love the set as they are colorful, varied and plentiful. I have not yet tested these items with pyrotechnics or flame.

202 Piece Play Combat Soldier Set in Bucket Review

(More customer reviews)This play set is great, there is a large number of different kind of soldiers for each country and their facial expressions are great. However, these toy soldiers are not the best. They can be inconsistent in quality, some have holes in the middle of their bodies, others have limbs that did not fill in the mold and some of the thinner parts can get bent and break off. Despite these flaws in their construction this is a great set.
