(More customer reviews)Ehhh..closer to 3.5 stars. My son is in the throes of a major Star Wars: The Clone Wars addiction and this is somewhere around the sixth lightsaber in our house. That said, I am something of a lightsaber expert. Compared to others, this one is just average in features and a bit pricey..shop around and keep a few of things in mind:
1) This is NOT a "force action" lightsaber. In other words, it does not spring open with the touch of a button but rather must be opened with a flick of the wrist. OK for some kids, but smaller ones might have a hard time opening it fully.
2) The extra, smaller lightsaber works the same way. It detaches as advertised, but is somewhat balky to get re-attached. Also, it doesn't make any sound.
3) The sound of the big lightsaber is pretty realistic, but as one reviewer already noted it is not that bright compared to other electronic lightsabers..it also doesn't seem as loud. The small "blade" isn't very bright either. And all together this model uses more batteries than most.
4) If your kids are like mine, they will beat the living daylights out of anything and everything with these things..each other, trees, furniture, me, etc. The other electronic lightsabers my son and his cousin have used don't stand up very well to repeated whacks and ultimately lose either the sound or the light. That said, however, the plastic "blades" tend to hold up pretty well. It has been my experience that the manual versions like this one tend to have fewer problems opening and closing (long term) than the spring-open, "force action" variety.

Medical Play Set Review

(More customer reviews)After reading every review on every child's medical play set, I chose this one. It is not as great as I'd hoped, but I knew that none of them had every feature that I wanted and I was looking in a certain price range. Some of the pieces are fairly standard - the thermometer, the "hammer" thing, the name badge, etc. The stethoscope fits well enough (a concern for many) and it makes fake sounds of coughing alternating with heart beating (I'd rather a "real" one, but I thought it was more important for it to fit in my son's ears.) The blood pressure cuff/gauge is terrible! The cuff is hard plastic (cuff bracelet style) and barely fits my wrist, it's only a matter of time before it snaps in half. The gauge doesn't work because the tube is horribly kinked, it might even have a hole and is likely unable to be fixed. The syringe doesn't stay together as the rubber seal around the plunger is a bit too small. I haven't figured out how to get it all to fit in the case either. BUT my son doesn't care about any of this! He loves it. I have had numerous "shots" today and he has determined there is no peanut butter and jelly in my ears...prognosis is good!

(More customer reviews)This is probably the best toy in the world! I am an 8 1/2 year old boy, that is true, but I love this toy anyway! It has a button for maximum action! It has a rubber and plastic handle. The handle has a switch, the settings are demo which is just a demo of what it can do, off which does not allow you to hear any sound, and play which has a motion sensor, just press the button, and it makes a whip sound, plays music, and when you hold the button down, you crack the whip and it makes the sound for you! It relieves stress too! If you like Indiana Jones, BUY THIS WHIP!!!!!!!!! There's just one warning, don't hit anybody or any animals with this because it will hurt.

(More customer reviews)This is not a double-bladed light saber like the one that Darth Maul used in Star Wars: The Phantom Menace. Instead, there is a normal-sized light saber and a mini light saber that can be attached end-end. The mini light saber can either be stored (hidden) inside the handle of the bigger one or inserted in the end of the handle with the blade extended to form a second blade. The normal-sized light saber is not as nice as the other ones we have: it only retracts about two-thirds of the way, not all the way; the blade does not extend at the push of a button, but has to be manually extended. The light effects are just as good though and the sound effects are actually a little better. The mini light-saber lights up but does not make any sound. The light tends to go out when it is inserted in the handle of the larger one to form a double-blade, I think because the button rubs up against the inside of the handle of the larger one. My son seems happy with it, despite it being different from the one Darth Maul used.

(More customer reviews)My son was very disappointed in this light saber - it's not spring open at the push of a switch like the others, and the color barely shows at all - it would have to be pitch dark to glow green or red, otherwise it's just a cheap clear light saber. It makes noise, but only if you push a button on the side which is not easy to find when using it as a light saber - the big push button merely opens the sith spikes which are no big deal and seem pretty cheaply made. The force action light sabers are much better than this one and seem to be of a better quality than this one.
