(More customer reviews)This truck unit comes with several pieces of equipment that should keep a fire-fighting kid happy. It includes a hose, a removable saw and a trailer that can be detached. It reminds me more of a firefighting unit you might see in a rural area, rather than a city. If your child is small, he or she may have trouble attaching some of the small pieces to the trailer, or placing them in the hands of the fireman that comes with this. Overall, it's a great little set.
But beware this unit will probably make your kid want more fire units. The new fire station out this year from Lego is a dandy, and this little unit will only add to the fun.

(More customer reviews)I am as excited as my son who is now a year younger than the recommended age range (5-12yrs). I helped, well..., (I assembled the fire truck and boat). What a awesome build though clearly for the upper part of the age range. Not because it was hard to build, but it is as fragile as a X'mas ornament. My son was very eager to play with the set, though it came apart frequently and became a search for the small parts. The crane, in particular, is the most fragile part of the whole set. Keep your wits about you if you are one of those dads "helping to build" and have to watch it become wrecked.My fault for shooting high but we recovered the pieces and re assembled the the truck and boat. No worries.The truck is really nice, I wish it could turn independent of the trailer, that is the only other minus. It is a limited edition and is definitely a hit at our home. Play together and enjoy.

The front of it is probably the coolest part, if you take it off and give it to someone they'll know it belongs on a fire truck. It has two firemen, fire tools, a shiny silver helmet (Only available in this set) and it is very durable. There are lots of very useful parts on this fire truck too so if you ever decide to take it apart, you'll have lots of cool new parts.

(More customer reviews)I picked up this kit after price comparing to Lego and seeing that the cost was approximately half that of Lego, on a per piece basis. Don't be fooled even though the box says it is compatible with other building toys, referring to Lego and Mega Blocks. The plastic is far more brittle than Lego. This makes connecting the blocks more difficult, especially for little hands. There was inconsistency with the tolerance of each connection as well. Some fit very tightly, while others would just fall off. Even the assembly directions, which are styled after Lego's, are not easy to follow, and the pieces used to create the model seem bizarre.
This just further serves to hammer home the notion that Lego is an unmatched toy. Lego gives years of reconfigurable play; their quality control leaves me wondering how they can be so darn good.
Lego is definitely worth the few dollars more every time.
