(More customer reviews)I have seen in many reviews of Mega Bloks products, that people think mega bloks inferior to Legos in durability. That isn't so simply the truth. Mega Bloks pieces are weaker than Legos, (tiny faults on slightly inferior plastic is to blame) however, the structure as a whole ends up more cohesive than most Lego sets. the first day my Hawk was complete, I dropped it from from my bed, with lots of swearing on my part until...I picked it up to inspect the damage...it was fine. Couldn't have done that with a Lego set unless I built it myself. Mega Bloks also end up more detailed. They seem more willing to experiment with detail more...All in all, Legos are great for kids, who tend to be little brutes on accident, (haven't quite got the hand eye coordination of you and I) but Mega Bloks are great for models. Just take it easy 'til it's finished, alright?

Mega Bloks Halo UNSC Warthog Review

(More customer reviews)I originally bought this for the machine gun, but it actually turned out to be a cool model, with big rubber tires, a solid feel and nice weight. Unfortunately, it suffers from three minor design flaws.
1) The front hooks have no solid connection, so they will fall off.
2) The gun mount is about 1 plate too low, and will not swivel unless raised. This requires the platform for the figure to also be raised.
3) The windshield and connection to the crossbar seem to be slightly off in many sets. This causes the front end to fall apart under the stress of attaching it. I admit to giving up in frustration twice before coming back to finish the model using a few basic tricks to increase clutch. The fit is still not perfect, but the Warthog is now quite solid and can handle being rolled over 1/2" rounded obstacles and crashed into walls with moderate force (minus the hooks) without breaking apart.
The Covenant Turret isn't anything to write home about, but includes some interesting pieces like the trans-blue rods and 4-way connectors that have already proven invaluable in other builds.
The UNSC figures are IMO excellent for their size and offer a great deal of pose-ability. At first , I didn't care for the Covenant Elite, but, once again, I've since found many uses for the unusual parts.
I gave this an educational rating of 5 because I feel that the challenge of correcting the flaws is an excellent learning experience for older children. Younger children and those with short attention spans will need adult assistance with this toy.
I knocked two stars off durability due to the issues with the front end.

Halo Kubricks Series 2 Figures Review

At first view, these figures looked compatible with Lego and they are not. They are too big to play with standard Lego figures and bricks.
The figures are nice and each come with 2 sub-machine guns and a battle rifle. We loved that.
The only issue we found is that we were expecting to build vehicles and other things with Lego to go with these figures, but they are not compatible.

(More customer reviews)I'm not a huge Halo but I do think the story and characters are great... This figure is fun to have around and pose every once in a while to let others in the home get a kick out of it. The item had all its pieces and it looks great.
The biggest draw back is sometimes pieces pop loose when posing it then others pop loose when trying to fix the first one that popped loose. ARgh.
A+ product.

Mega Bloks Halo War UNSC Turret Review

(More customer reviews)This is a great little set and a very good introduction to Mega Brands' Halo Wars product line. The design is pretty simple overall, using a nice assortment of basic bricks rather than specialized, single-use elements. The colors are excellent--really good representations of Halo colors, and frankly it just looks great.
The turret itself features four laser cannons and a seat for the gunner. In addition, the turret swivels and elevates to provide a 360-degree arc of fire--enough to keep even the most stubborn Covenant forces at bay!
My favorite part is that the UNSC Turret includes three Spartan figures, so that this is a good set for starting to build your army! The figures are remarkably detailed and great representations of Spartans.
A fine set from start to finish. I already own three and plan to purchase at least two more.

Genius Products Halo Interactive Strategy Game Review

(More customer reviews)It may seem like just a cash-in on a popular franchise but it is still a great board game. The board can be set-up in many different ways,along with different rules and modes to keep things fresh every time you play. Combat is extremely fun and balanced on both sides the way the game is set up is so that 2 players control thier own squad and try to eliminate each other or complete objectives. the rules seem complex in the beginning but if you actually read them they make sense. Almost anybody can pick up this board game with a friend and play and I was able to change the rules to the point where 4 people could join in and have an equal chance at playing, without much effort. The DVD isn't necessary but it is a great way to change things up which is still nice. The voice-overs are ok even if they dont capture the personality of your favorite characters, and it uses in-game footage which is good too.
If you love strategy board games and want something unique and fresh than this game is most definitely for you even if you have never heard of or played halo. If your a halo fan and enjoy a occasional board game than i highly recommend it.

Mega Bloks UNSC Spartan II Review

(More customer reviews)I didn't buy this toy on amazon, I found it at Target. I thought it looked interesting and at 10 bucks it's cheaper than most of the other Halo action figures.
This is a must-buy if you love Halo toys like I do. It's not a traditional action figure, it's a building-block style action figure, it comes in a box in pieces and you have to put it together. It's very similar to the Lego Bionicle action figures. The figure uses magnets to connect most of the major joints, and this actually works much better than it sounds. The build quality is excellent, Master Chief is perfectly capable of standing under his own power.
Fully assembled, Master Chief stands about 6 1/4 inches tall. The box is unnecessarily large and doesn't actually say how big the final product is. The box says Halo Wars and Spartan-II so I guess technically it's not Master Chief but he's green so you be the judge. He comes with an assault rifle.

This figure might not be as accurately modeled or as poseable as the MacFarland figures, but he's obscure and I'll bet none of your friends have one. To me that makes him the prize of my collection.
On a side note, if you have little kids (offspring, siblings, nieces, nephews) constantly bugging you to play with your MacFarland collection of Halo figures, buy this for them. It's a great alternative that will keep their little mitts off your shelf. Also, it would be pointless to keep him in the box since he's in pieces like a Lego set anyway.

(More customer reviews)I put this one together with my 8 year old son and it took about a half hour. He loves it and has played with it many, many times. I wouldn't say Mega Bloks are as good as Lego but they are close. You can only find Halo stuff with Mega Bloks, so what you going do? My only advice is make sure you put the pieces together really tight so they won't come apart later. If you are putting something together with more than 700 pieces you might want to use glue, trust me.

Halo 3: Master Chief Kubricks 4-Pack Review

(More customer reviews)This set contains four Master Chief Kubrick figures in four different colors. The colors include blue, red, green, and clear. There is also a rare black Master Chief chase figure. Sets that contain this figure will not contain the clear figure. In addition, the set also includes weapons for each figure. Included are 4 battle rifles (one per figure) and eight SMGs (two per figure). The set is packaged in a display box that gives a clear view of all four figures and their weapons. Each figure measures about 2.5 inches tall and resembles a large Lego style figure. Although these figures can be taken apart like Legos, I would not recommend it since they are not as durable as Legos.
The overall quality of this set is pretty poor. The paint and detailing work is lack luster and could be seen as down right sloppy. Many paint related defects such as spots and blotches can be found throughout. The legs of some of the figures in my set were also stuck together from when the paint first dried and had to be gently pulled loose.
The figures also seem to have been assembled with little care. The legs on some of the figures are uneven causing them to lean slightly when standing. In addition, some of the armor has also been put on poorly and requires some readjustments. The biggest problem with the assembly is the figures' hands. First of all, it looks like two different types of plastics were used in producing the hands for the figures. One type is a hard plastic, and the other is a softer plastic. Visually there are only slight differences is appearance between the two plastics, but this creates a situation where some figures will have mismatched hands. In addition, the hands are also very loosely put on and can come off easily. This can pose a choking hazard, so these toys should stay away from young children. Care should also be taken to not lose any of hands.
The overall playability of the set is low. They can only really be put in a standing position. The range of motion of the arms and legs are limited by the figure's body armor. The figures are unable to fully raise their arms. In addition, the way each figure holds his gun looks somewhat awkward, especially when holding the SMGs. The lack of enemies also hinders the playability of the set.
This set is definitely geared more towards a collector than a person looking to open up the set and play with the toys. If kept in the unopened display box, the deficiencies of this set are hardly noticeable. Only upon closer inspection can one really see problems. With an MSRP of around $20, I would expect the figures to look just as nice out of the box as they do inside. The bottom line is if you are a collector who plans to just display the figures in the box and never take them out, this set maybe a decent buy. For everyone else, this is a set to probably just avoid all together.

(More customer reviews)this review is more for the older fan base of Halo which i imagine that that is whom mega bloks was going after, since halo is rated m. i take this line as more for display than to play with. I have helped some of my younger cousins build their legos some of the bigger pieces and found it is about the same difficulty level. that being said I would not recommend this item for anybody under the age of 10. Also if you are looking to play with these items i would highly suggest not to, since the parts are odd shaped and hard to keep in place. on a final note the instructions are hard since it is a 3d toy on paper. A definite plus is the action figures that come with the mega bloks much much better than the lego ones.

(More customer reviews)Bought these figures for use with the Mega Blox Halo vehicles. The figures are pretty cool and their limbs/bodies/heads can be interchanged. My only disappointment is with myself for not doing my homework before purchasing. We are talking 5 figures a bit bigger than the Lego figures but with a price tag of 30$, basically making them 6$ a piece. Granted he loved them and is still playing with them but its still hard to justify the price.

Mega Bloks Halo Wars UNSC Gremlin Review

(More customer reviews)The MegaBloks Gremlin set makes a handsome and sturdy vehicle with a big, easy to access cockpit and six rubber tires. This set is great for careful ten year olds on up.
The Gremlin is made from rectangular blocks and wedges, making it a less sophisticated model than Lego might have made, but also making it easier to rebuild as something else. The instructions are easy to follow, highlighting studs where new pieces attach.
During construction the Gremlin goes through some frail stages. There were times when I was adding pieces only a little quicker than I was knocking pieces off. Once built it holds up to rolling fast and bashing into things, but if you roll it on its side, you might have to rebuild the 'gun' on top and replace some antennae. The front fenders make tempting handles but are not quite strong enough to use for picking up the vehicle.
The figures included look great but are very different from Lego minifigures. The MegaBloks figures have knees, elbows, rotating waists, a ball joint neck, hips, and shoulders, giving them a huge range of motions. You cannot simply grab the chest and get them to stand, you have to adjust knees and hips separately.
This set would frustrate a young builder but is very high fun per dollar for older kids.
