He's 5 and could follow the instructions on his own but needed help with the stickers. The only drawback is that there is one large sticker that encompasses the whole body of the plane, so you can only fully build it once.

LEGO World City: Helicopter Review

When I received the toys, the boxes state that they are actually intended for ages 7 and up (a pretty big age difference for a toy of this type).

Southwest 55 Piece Construction Toy Review

(More customer reviews)My airplane lego lovers think these are fabulous, the engines and tail falls off all the time (really frustrating to the 3 year old, and mom always looking for them ) but the stickers do a great job holding the body of the plane together. My 5 year old put it together easily on his own. I totally recommend it, my kids love them, we have three different ones.

Daron Real Toys Action City Staten Island, New York - Ferry Boat Review

And we're talking about a kid with too many toys for his own good what with indulgent parents and two full sets of doting grandparents and great grandparents. This ferry gives him another way to interact with his many toy cars (some of which had fallen into disfavor and been brought back into active play because of this ferry). It is well made and has inherent play value with it's two moving ramps and swiveling light/radar on top.
Personally I find it to be well made and quality product and I too am pleased with it. My little guy has already asked for an outing to go ride the real Staten Island Ferry and we're both looking forward to that quality time. What more can you ask for?!

Lego Classic Rocky River Retreat 6552 Review

(More customer reviews)There isn't much to say about Lego's that haven't already been said. They are terrific toys that are great for children and adults alike, and help with imagination and focus along with following instructions. Though Lego has certainly gotten more corporate as years have gone by - to the point that they repeat certain themes over and over with slight twists - this particular set takes me to a unique time in Lego. Today you're guaranteed that Lego 'City' theme will always have a new Police or Fire station. But what is the 'other' theme? At this time, 1993, you had recreation (2011, you have 'Space' - for ordinary life, not just 'Star Wars').
The Rocky River Retreat is easily one of my favorite sets. There was quite a bit of detail and imagination put into the genesis of it. From the unique base-plate that has a painted river to the drawbridge, you've got outstanding play possibilities. It also had numerous artifacts and accessories from a horse to a a 'bird of pray' (a parrot painted gray), mugs, a skillet, suitcase and and numerous trees with unique trunks. The brown color schemes too added a bit of extra flavor, and the roof plates to the cottage were also a nice touch. The set also comes with a nifty 'SUV' with overhead lights, a fishing pole and trailer with boat. It is so creative that you also have a water pump/well!
This set is 20 years old, so make no mistake, finding it will be extremely difficult. But I would recommend it if it could be found. So many of Lego's older sets seemed more original and versatile to me in that you could do even more with them than just make the display. It just goes to show you that Lego was and always will be one of the more creative building toys on the market. It really was a golden era for Lego products and around the same time, the more girl oriented Paradisa series came out. Also around that time they were really exploring more 'recreational' themes, so you had vacation boats and items of that nature too.
Like so many other classic Lego town sets from the 80's and 90's (like the McDonald's one too), if this were to be re-released today, without question it would sell well.

LEGO City Special Edition Set #3661 Bank Money Transfer Review

(More customer reviews)This is my first Lego "City" building set. It liked it mostly because its a "Hard-To-Find" set and it came with a building plus three different vehicles.
The box itself makes the bank building look like its going to be huge, but its actually rather small when its all put together (But maybe all LEGO building sets are like that?). The building size was only slightly disappointing, though, as the bank looks really nice when its complete. It was very easy to build, and the stickers aren't rather easy to affix to the building and vehicles. I was happy to see that some parts--the computer, computer keyboard, ATM and clock--didn't need stickers, because I generally don't like putting them on, as I don't want to mess up. I do wish the building was a bit larger, as I'd imagine its a bit too small for kids to play in properly (Though they could easily add-on to it with their own baseplate and build their own expanded interior).
I'm really happy with the variety of the vehicles this set comes with: a police car, an armored truck and a red motorcycle. I actually just really wanted the motorcycle, which is a motorcross-type of bike. The bike doesn't come with stickers, though it still looks good without any. I really like the armored truck out of these three; its huge, has large swing-out doors and holds two safes in the middle, plus four money bricks in the back. The police car doesn't have anything particularly special about it, but its a great-looking car.
The Minifigures that come with the set are a male police officer, a male armored truck driver, a female bank teller and a male bank robber. Not much to say about these, just that they're all high-quality and all have fantastic detail.
Very pleased with this set! Highly recommend purchasing it while you still can.

Just to find all 3 kids were so disappointed, one child ended up in tears at the fact that the pieces don't stay together and the heads of the figures fall off constantly. This was cheap in price...and even cheaper in quality. DON'T BOTHER...... Wasn't a good alternative to the real thing. Sad kids...not worth it.

(More customer reviews)This is an awesome set. My 7 yr old put this together by himself with very little help needed from a parent. The pieces fit with lego and other lego-type building pieces which is great if you have a kid that likes to use their imagination and create their own. I was nervous that this would be junk b/c of the price in comparison to Legos... but it is sturdy and definitely better than other Lego Copy Cat building sets we have tried in the past. I would definitely recommend this toy.

LEGO Racers Set #8227 Dragon Dueler Review

(More customer reviews)Just bought this set and also set 8231 for my kids, almost 6 and 8. We have not had quite the bad experience that the other reviewer had. The sets took between 20-30 minutes to put together with help from an adult.
Yes, when they hit the walls sometimes some parts do fall off.
The pump did work, but it's a little hard for my younger child to work. You have to really press down hard and quickly- my son did not have enough strength in his arms to do this and really make it go far (I could get about 6-8 feet) and he could only got a couple of feet. And if kids try to use their feet as pictured they sometimes hit the car, and then it does break apart. But it works, and i think older kids would be okay and I think my son will get better with practice.
Some issues with the pump....I think if you put the car on too quickly then air gets backed up so that the pump gets stuck, so I always tell my son to go slowly.
We intend to use these sets for a Lego birthday party, so hopefully it will work out!

LEGO Truck 3221 Review

(More customer reviews)The Lego City truck is one of my son's favorite City sets. He says it awesome to pretend with and loves the idea of the 'load' being more Lego City truck sets. This toy's colors beautifully standout among other trucks he owns and is not too large to be handled with ease.
The set was not difficult for my 11 year old to piece together and the instructions were clear and easy to understand. Part of the educational value that comes from this toy is the practice of comprehending, visual reading,and following instruction. My son is a visual learner so Lego has provided a way for him to enhance this skill through their visual diagrams.
The truck has great detail and even has an engine. Unfortunately, the hood of the truck does not open easily and several pieces must be taken off to expose the engine. Also, when I rolled the truck with the cab being on an angle against the trailer, the hitch came undone quickly. However, this did not seem to bother my son, who just popped it back on quickly.
My son had read about the truck online and in his Lego magazine (Lego sends out a free Lego magazine, sign up is @[...]) prior to our purchase and he said the truck was everything he thought it would be and more. It's an enjoyable toy and goes well with the Lego City he has created under our dining room table. I highly recommend this toy for all ages to enjoy!

(More customer reviews)I am a teacher at a Preschool. I can truly say that this toy has sparked a lot of interest in my classroom. When I first introduced this toy into the classroom the kids were really excited. The kid's that I teach are two years old turning three this year. They absolutely love this toy! This toy by Lego can both be educational and fun. I have taught my kids about vehicles and police officers. I actually even used this toy to bring up a lesson on occupation and the role police officers, fire fighters and other community workers play in society . In my opinion and experience this toy is well worth the price because it not only brings enjoyment to a child but it also allows the child to want to learn more about the toy. Although more boys will probably be drawn to this toy than girls, I still have seen girls play with it. As an educator I recommend this product. Thanks for reading!
