Harry Potter Wizard Chess Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)This is not your TYPICAL chess set. True, you can still play chess, but kids & adults alike will love this new game.
When you open the box, you will get a fold-out chess board (very durable). The board has the EXACT same colors as the chess set seen in "Harry Potter & the Sorcerer's Stone". You will also receive two complete set of chess pieces.
Each piece was designed using the SAME sketches Warner Brother employees used to create the life-size pieces in the movie; they are COMPLETELY identical. The pieces are made of a thick-plastic type of material, so they are very hard to damage (but not impossible).
Also included in the box is a set of instructions that have easy-to-read insturctions on how to play chess. They have pictures showing the different ways each piece can move.
Whether you're a chess fan or not, if you LOVE Harry Potter, then you MUST have this chess set; makes a great decoration on any coffee table.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince Cake Topper Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)I love the Harry Potter cake topper, but don't be fooled by the picture... The "stands" shown at each end of the cake are not 3-dimensional. They are small, flat, patterned plastic tabs. Not quite what I expected, but they still make a very cute cake! It was quite a hit at my daughter's birthday party!

Harry Potter Wand with light and sound Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)My daughter is a HP fan and really wanted this wand. It is hard to tell much from the photo so I ordered it for her. I should have read the reviews first. It is not very realistic at all and would only appeal to very young children. We didn't have any problems with the batteries as stated in other reviews and it has worked fine, she just lost interest in it almost immediately. A very boring product to say the least. The only reason to buy it would be to use with a child's HP costume. Also, you can't shut it off. If you touch it, it lights up and makes noise. The only way to stop it is to take the batteries out.

Put an enchanting spell over your friends, and if they don't oblige, whack them with this wand to get their attention. From the Harry Potter series comes this great-looking wand with jaw-dropping lights and sounds to enhance your costume. This wand is similar to the one wielded by the young Hogwart!

LEGO Harry Potter: Sirius Black's Escape Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)This is a pretty cool set. The only thing wrong is that is should be a little taller like in the movie. This set really recreates the tower in the movie. The only thing wrong is the door. It should be like a prison door like in the movie, not a wooden one. Some good things about this is only one of two sets that have buckbeak, one of four sets that have a dementor, and only one of two sets that have Sirus Black. I RECOMEND THAT YOU BUY THIS!!!

LEGO Games Harry Potter Hogwarts 3862 Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)This is a really wonderful game for older children and adults to play together. The first time you play, the board needs to be built which can be a little time consuming. But after that, the instructions are simple and can be learned in a few minutes. Game play is fun but challenging and involves strategic and spacial thinking. It's easy enough for an older child, but requires enough thought to engage and adult. I also love how the game encourages so much creativity. The dice, board and rules can all be customized. Depending on which variation you play, a game can take between 10 minutes and half an hour. I've rarely seen my 10 year old so excited about a board game. The only downside I see is like all Lego sets, there are many small pieces. I see the potential for loosing pieces. However, I'm sure you could substitute with pieces from other Lego sets easily. I'm definitely pleased with my purchase.

LEGO Harry Potter Freeing Dobby (4736) Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)Our oldest daughter who is 19, grew up with Harry Potter and used to spend hours building the Harry Potter Lego Sets, (if she'd only have saved them!!) and now it's my youngest daughter's turn. At eleven, this was her first kit. This is an inexpensive smaller set and she had a great time putting it together. We built this little Dobby kit in an hour or two and had a great time. This kit has a lot of cute little details such as Malfoy falling, little flames, and Dobby is totally sweet with his little sock!
The new generation of Harry Potter Legos that are hitting the stores now are fabulous! Have you seen Hogwart Castle? It looks brilliant. This set though, is small and fun with a lot of special detail to make it really cool when it's put together. With winter coming I think these new sets would make rainy days fun and renew the wonder of Harry Potter for the younger kids. I'd like to get all of the new sets and if this Dobby kit is a sampling of what the other sets have in store, I think that it is going to be a fun winter! These Lego sets are really just fun and interesting. The kids have to use follow the instructions and think about what they are doing. I think they are great learning tools that create a few hours of fun too and the result of the finished product gives the kids a feeling of accomplishment because they really do turn out wonderful. If they want to, they can tear them apart and putting them back together again so there is a facet of being able to use them over and over if they'd like.
These kits make following directions and constructing something fun. Harry Potter has always been big in our family and I am so glad Lego has created this new generation of Lego's for the kids to enjoy now. This small Freeing Dobby Lego kit made the afternoon special. I look forward to the other new Harry Potter Lego sets for lots of special afternoons.

LEGO Harry Potter Flying Lessons (4711) Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)I have to give the overall review one star because of the outrageous price. I have this set and paid about $10 for it. I cannot believe someone would charge over $60 for this. That is outrageous- I feel bad for the grandmother above who got ripped off. Yes, this toy is no longer in production, so fine, add a few dollars, but to scalp children's toys for literally six times the original price- and this goes for all they Lego Harry Potter sets being scalped on Amazon- pretty low.
PS For all you Harry Potter Lego lovers- there will be new sets coming out in Fall 2010- see Lego website...

LEGO Harry Potter: Chamber of the Winged Keys (4704) Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)Since I bought the Harry Potter LEGO kit, one of the sets I got was The Chamber of the Winged Keys. in this scene, Harry and Ron need to catch a winged key to unlock the door. Only then will they be able to pass into the Chess room to play the ultimate battling game. This set includes Harry, Ron, the White King, a broomstick to catch the keys with, five flying keys, a chamber for the keys, and a chamber with nine Chess squares. This set becomes more intresting when you combine it with these sets: #4702 The Final Challenge and #4706 The Forbidden Corridor. I highly recommend this fantastic, high flying set.

Lionel Harry Potter Hogwarts Express O-Gauge Set Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)I liked this set so well, I bought a second one. If you're modelling Hogs Meade, or platform 9 3/4, from the Harry Potter series, this is a "must have" addition for your O-gauge layout. The tightest curves that the train will negotiate are O-36, so if your layout is based on O-31 or O-27 curves, you will be disappointed. Lionel includes an O-36 based oval as part of the set. My layout is based on O-42 and larger curves, and I haven't had any problems.
The locomotive, tender, and cars are nicely detailed, and well built for this price point. As with any nicely detailed train components, it is necessary to exercise care when handling.
The locomotive is not ready for digital control or for digital sound effects. It has a working smoke unit and an air driven whistle. Lionel could add sound by offering an appropriately equipped car, as they have done with their Polar Express O-gauge train. I hope they do.
If you're looking for a modestly priced train set as a starter for elementary school age children, you might be better off getting one of the bulletproof nondescript freight sets (Pennsy, NYC, Santa Fe, etc). If you would like an authentically detailed collectible based on the Harry Potter stories, either to run on a suitable layout, for display, or just for collecting, this set will fill the bill very nicely.

Lego Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone #4723 Diagon Alley Shops Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)If you like tiny, detailed accessories, you'll love this set -- it's practically nothing but accessories with just enough building blocks to hold it all together.
This Lego set impressed both my 10-year-old daughter and me, her discerning mom. She thinks the animals (a whopping five of them here!) are the cutest things ever. I think the best toys are those that "do" more than one thing, and most of these pieces provide multiple possibilities for creative play. Examples: the translucent cylinders can be wands, glow sticks, or test tubes full of colorful potions; the colorful gem-shaped pieces can be decorative stoppers for the bottles or jewels in the treasure chest; the feathery orange-red plume works equally well as a quill pen and as a flame. In addition to being versatile, these pieces are sturdy for many hours of handling. The only flimsy items, the thin vinyl capes, came packaged in their own little cardboard box that prevented crumpling. This little box is actually sized right for small fingers to be able to put the capes back in - for continued storage and protection. Thank you Lego, for thinking ahead!
If you have a Lego fan who also loves Harry Potter, you won't go wrong with this fantastic set. We can't wait to try out the rest in the Harry Potter series.

When you're a young sorcerer-in-training, hanging out at the mall takes on a whole new significance. So when characters out of the imagination of best selling author J.K. Rowling decide to hang out in Legoland, no doubt the floo powder leads them to the food court of Lego kit number 4723, the Diagon Alley Shops. Designed for Harry Potter fans, this book and movie tie in is definitely Hermione-centric: the 80 pieces feature the classic Lego interlocking component, but include such novelties as broomstick, cat and mouse, witch's hat, and even tiny books and cupboards that open and close. Complete with a cardboard backdrop depicting two stores, and a 16 page full color instruction booklet, Lego's version of Diagon Alley Shops ensures that no Harry fan will confuse "Flourish and Blotts" with Abercrombie and Fitch. HARRY POTTER: HAGRID'S HUT WORLD OF HOGWARTS PLAYSET Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)I love this playset, but this is not Hut. This is a little house not even made out of wood like in the story! It should've at least looked like the hut in the movie. I even have to say that the lego Hagrid's Hut is better. ... But the lego design does look like the hut. ... Insid this a pretty funny looking Hagrid figure. The way the things move inside are nice, like the fire around the cauldron and the hatching Norbert! Well, I guess it's ok, but if only it were designed better. Well it's good enough to connect to Hogwarts playset.

Harry Potter Bellatrix Lestrange Tonner Doll Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)Except for a few of the very rare figures, I pretty much have the whole Tonner Harry Potter series and they are wonderful!
Of all the figures in the series to date, this is probably my least favorite. In general, the doll is pretty good. The costume is good. The likeness though, doesn't look anything like Helena Bonham-Carter. The face looks more like a character from an old Italian movie. It's not a bad face, it's just not Helena. Most of the other characters likenesses are generally pretty good. I find the wands for the whole series, with the exception of Voldemort, to be a bit silly. They're basically just painted toothpicks. Still, I would not let this deter anyone from picking up any of the characters in this fantastic series. They are expensive, but they are also rather limited in quantity and hopefully will remain so.

LEGO Lucius Malfoy DeathEater Harry Potter 2010 Minifig with Broom & Wand Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)Since I can't have the real one, I decided to purchase my own tiny luscious Lucius Malfoy. He is a great companion but very two-faced. His good side has long blond hair and a human face. His evil side (achieved by reversing the head) wears a DeathEater mask and black wand. "Lil L" comes with a cape, a magic broom and a long black wand which helps him balance as well. Sadly, the wand doesn't have the pimp daddy silver cobra head and must be completely assembled with no instructions! ALERT-this item is not really suitable for a younger child as the hair and/or the mask are small enough to be easily inserted in the mouth and swallowed.

LEGO Harry Potter Diagon Alley 10217 Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)As crazy as it sounds, I asked my two almost-grown sons to get me a Harry Potter Lego set for Mother's Day. Flowers are nice, cards are sweet, but I wanted a present that would last for years and maybe even increase in value. And the bonus? I get to spend quality time with my boys reliving the fun of building Lego sets, and the memories we share while building the Harry Potter sets are wonderful. The set that I opened on Mother's Day was....ta-da...Diagon Alley! Great choice, and I get to be a kid again along with them when we construct it later this week. (with HP movie music playing in the background) It will look great with our other Legos on display.

Expand your very own wizarding world of Harry PotterTM!No need to pass through the Leaky Cauldron. Now even Muggles can shop in Diagon Alley by building this fantastically magical set that includes 3 extensively detailed buildings and 11 minifigures! Join Harry Potter, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger as they shop for their HogwartsTM school supplies. Visit Ollivander's, Borgin and Burke's, and Gringott's Bank. Each Diagon Alley building is realistically detailed. Ollivander's offers an extensive selection of wands, storage shelves and a step ladder that allows Ollivander to gather wands from the top floor. The front desk has an "exploding" function for those inconvenient times when a spell goes awry. Borgin and Burke's includes a scary skeleton, glow-in-the-dark elements, a fireplace attached to the Floo Network and a Vanishing Cabinet that Dark wizards might use to sneak in. Gringott's Bank is an impressive two-story building with double doors, and can be opened completely into a large building or closed to create a smaller building. The bank's interior features a removable vault, along with the Philosopher's Stone, a clerk's desk, a chandelier and 'wonky' support pillars. Includes 11 minifigures: Harry Potter, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger, each with magic wand; Rubeus Hagrid, equipped with his umbrella; Fred and George Weasley; 2 Gringott's goblins; Mr. Ollivander; Lucius Malfoy (in Death Eater disguise); Fenrir Greyback; and 4 new, decorated owls.

LEGO GAMES Orient Bazaar 3849 Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)My son love to play this (11 yrs old). He especially loves that they include extra rules to be changed, new ways to play, etc. Just want Amazon to know that they are overpriced on their LEGO sets. Lego.com sells this for $19.99 plus $4.97 to ship--saw other sets on Amazon similarly over priced (with shipping, nearly double the true retail price from LEGO!). We were going to purchase from Amazon until we saw the price difference and ended up purchasing at a LEGO store.
